This study analyzes the impact of implementing an inventory control database with cycle counts on reducing downtime due to material shortages in a regional automotive harness manufacturing company. The performance of two companies is compared: one that implemented the cycle count system with a database and another that maintained traditional methods. The company that adopted the new system significantly improved its operational efficiency. In 2022, it achieved an 80% accuracy in physical inventory with 28 minutes of downtime per shift due to a lack of material. In 2023, the accuracy increased to 99%, improving inventory accuracy by 19% and reducing downtime to 5 minutes per shift, representing an 82% decrease in downtime due to shortages. In contrast, the company without cycle counts continues to face serious inventory management problems, including reactive material requests and reliance on inaccurate manual records.
