Foreign trade is a multidimensional phenomenon that drives the global economy, offering fertile ground for academic research and analysis. In this scientific article, we explore the complex dynamics of foreign trade, focusing on its prospects, challenges and opportunities. From a global perspective, foreign trade is inextricably linked to economic globalization, facilitating the interconnection of markets and the integration of supply chains on an international scale. However, this interdependence has also exposed trade to a number of challenges. Trade barriers, both tariff and non-tariff, represent significant obstacles to accessing foreign markets and can distort competition. Political and economic instability, as well as the resurgence of protectionism, pose additional challenges to international trade, generating uncertainty and making strategic planning difficult. Furthermore, disparities in the distribution of the benefits of trade can exacerbate global economic and social inequalities. Despite these challenges, foreign trade also presents significant opportunities. Emerging markets offer vast potential for export expansion and foreign investment. Technological innovation, sustainability and regional cooperation represent promising avenues to improve competitiveness and promote more equitable and sustainable trade. This article will analyze each of these aspects in depth, examining current trends, identifying the key factors that influence foreign trade and exploring possible strategies to address the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities presented by this fundamental economic area.
