Anxiety in school performance in mathematics is present in regional, national and international environments, especially in adolescents between 12 and 15 years old. It manifests itself with feelings of anguish, stress, tiredness, restlessness and worry. The objective was to determine the factors that cause anxiety and impact the academic performance of a group of high school students, through the application of instruments to show the incidence of this emotion in their performance. The mixed-section study was carried out through the sequential exploratory research design (DEXPLOS), using an interview guide and the questionnaire for data collection. The main finding was the presence of this phenomenon in high school students with an outstanding average, as well as the detection of the influence of anxiety symptoms (frustration and cognitive blocks) in the use of learning in the subject of mathematics. It was concluded that anxiety symptoms are caused by environmental factors, specifically the teacher's attitude, the teaching method and the tools used to teach the topics.
