Abstract

Today many communities around the world are realizing the richness of their heritage, both natural and cultural. Carrying out rural tourism can be a difficult path, which could come to depend mostly on the support of the community itself and not on the project leader. Taking the aforementioned as a reference, the importance of the perception of the members in a community for its development can be highlighted. Today there are instruments for measuring perception in tourist activity that allow us to show those expectations, opinions and thoughts that the community does not manage to express commonly and are of vital importance for success in the community.

The main purpose of this study is to determine the level of acceptance of the population towards the implementation of tourist activity in the Masiaca micro-region, through a methodology to study the perception of the community in order to promote rural tourism. One of the reasons why it was decided to carry out this research is because the micro-region is developing projects related to the promotion of rural tourism and there is no data on the perception of the community towards the implementation of tourism activity, therefore, chose to apply the instrument previously used by Andereck and Nyaupane (2011), Stylidis (2012), Stylidis, et, atl, (2014) and Loor Pilay (2016), adapted to the Masiaca micro-region in order to identify areas of opportunity and growth in community opinions.

The instrument consists of six dimensions to be developed, such as the benefit of tourism if it were implemented in the micro-region, positive impacts in the micro-region, negative impacts in the micro-region, Masiaca's possibilities for tourism, support for economic development and development restrictions. future of tourism. This in order to measure in all possible areas the perception of tourism activity in the community. It was obtained as a result that the level of acceptance of the population through the implementation of the tourist activity in the Masiaca micro-region is high, because according to the instrument applied to measure the perception of community members in different aspects, results were found very favorable for tourism activity.
