Abstract
The article analyzes governance in a freight ground transportation company in southern Sonora, a key region for trade and logistics in Mexico. Corporate governance, understood as the structures and processes that guide decision-making, is essential for the efficiency and sustainability of the sector. In this region, companies face challenges such as competition, state and federal regulations, road infrastructure conditions, and changes in logistics demand. Most of them are small and medium-sized enterprises that require effective governance models to optimize resources and improve service quality. The study identifies key governance characteristics, such as the involvement of internal stakeholders, transparency, labor relations, and strategic alliances. It also highlights the need to implement good practices that promote innovation and market adaptation. It concludes that these companies must strengthen their governance structures to respond to a changing environment, which can translate into greater competitiveness and long-term profitability.
