Abstract
With the aim of achieving food self-sufficiency in Mexico, the federal government (six-year term 218-2024) started from a diagnosis that begins by locating the dimension of the problem of insufficient agri-food production and hunger in the world and in our country.
In such a way, the National Development Plan (PND 2018-2024) contemplates sectoral plans, in this case, aimed at achieving self-sufficiency and food sovereignty in the country, taking up an old desire that comes from the time of Presidents Echeverría (LEA, 1970-1976) and López Portillo (1976-1982) and it was decided to make changes in the federal public administration. particularly, in SAGARPA, head of the so-called agricultural sector.
This article aims to review and analyze the changes from SAGARPA to SADER and whether they will be a real transformation in the agricultural sector in general and agri-food in particular, as well as the Legal Framework on which these changes are based.
Keywords: Agri-food sector, food self-sufficiency, food sovereignty, food security.
