Students' attitudes toward people with disabilities significantly influence their inclusion in higher education, as they can either facilitate or hinder their integration into the academic environment. This study analyzed the perceptions of 455 students from various fields using the Attitudes Toward People with Disabilities Scale, evaluating factors such as gender, age, and field of study.
The data, processed with SPSS, revealed an overall trend favoring inclusion, though differences were observed among groups. Students in Business Management Engineering displayed the most positive attitudes, while those over 21 years old showed a more favorable predisposition compared to younger students.
The analysis by semester and department indicated differences in the dimensions of rights recognition and generic classification. The assessment of abilities and limitations stood out at the departmental level, while personal involvement, which measures the willingness to interact with people with disabilities, was more significant by semester. These findings highlight the importance of raising awareness and training the university community to strengthen a culture of inclusion.
