For rural communities, tourism has become an opportunity to improve their living conditions through job creation, the development of local products, and the offering of new complementary tourism services. This research aims to analyze community tourism in a town in Yucatán from the perspective of modern development theory and postmodernity.
This study follows a qualitative approach and a phenomenological method, as it seeks to understand the effects of the phenomenon from the perspective of the subjects studied. Therefore, a semi-structured interview was conducted to collect data. The analysis of the results presents the structural changes that tourism has brought to the community.
