An increase in mental health issues has been observed within the university community due to academic pressures, family expectations, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. These problems can significantly impact the quality of life for young people if they do not receive timely and accessible treatment. This proposal aims to explore alternatives to traditional therapy that can be adapted to the resources and lifestyles of students. The primary objective is to assess the viability of using a mobile application as psychological support for students at the University of Sonora. The methodology for this investigation involved a questionnaire with six items grounded in theoretical perspectives, directed at 32 students from various programs offered at the University of Sonora. The results indicate that 50% of students view the availability of appointments as the main obstacle to accessing psychological services at the university. Furthermore, more than 50% of students believe that reduced or free costs would be the primary incentive for using an emotional support application. Based on these findings, using an application as an emotional support tool for students is deemed feasible. Consequently, a second phase of the investigation is planned, building on the results presented.
