The objective of this study was to analyze the predictive role of motivation with the importance of physical education for students in secondary schools in Huatabampo, Sonora, Mexico. A total of 82 students participated (52.4% boys, 47.6% girls), Age = 14.19; SD = .266; range = 14 – 15 years). With the results obtained, we can say that our study agrees with the postulates of the TAD (Deci & Ryan, 1985, 2000; Ryan & Deci, 2017) postulates that the teacher's performance during PE classes influences basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence and relationship with others).
