The present work will try to explain how the different socioeconomic factors that occur around the poverty of the elderly in Mexico affect. It is expected to find that this group, since it has different programs and government support, has a lower level of poverty than the rest of the population. To carry out the analysis, the National Household Income and Expenditure Surveys (ENIGH) were used, and multidimensional poverty was calculated using the methodology of the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (CONEVAL) using the STATA 13.0 program in the period from 2016 to 2020. We found that it is the second least poor group after the economically active population. Poverty occurs more in women although the difference with men is irrelevant. As expected, education is inversely proportional to poverty. Senior citizens are less poor when they live alone, but households are less poor when they have them among their members. When a senior citizen is the head of the household, they tend to be less poor and finally, when they do not have a health service, their probability of being poor is 2 to 1.
