Abstract

The objective of this quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive research approach is to describe the organizational climate of SMEs in the city of Santiago - Chile, through the ESCO-SMEs instrument. Content validity was agreed upon by 91% of judges and reliability yielded a Cronbach's alpha of .879. It was applied to 863 employees of 51 SMEs. The phenomenon is perceived as moderately positive to negative, reflecting partial facilities towards very severe difficulties that employees face in performing, relating, and relying on the leader, empowering themselves, adapting to change, obtaining fair and equitable remuneration, accessing compensation. and recognition for their performance, improve their technical-professional skills and create identity towards the organization, describing a work environment with an unpleasant tendency due to inadequate management practices. It is concluded that the human talent management strategies of SMEs in Santiago must be transformed, focusing on the individual, their beliefs, knowledge, and expectations, as aspects as important as their financial purposes, to create competitive advantages that reduce costs. operational, to the extent that productivity, performance, collective learning, motivation, and identity are capitalized in the production of goods and services with the least possible sacrifice of resources.
